The TNPSC Group 2 syllabus is akin to the IAS syllabus. The candidates are required to cover all the topics given in the TNPSC Group 2 syllabus. The candidates need to lay special emphasis on the Tamil Nadu news and state government schemes. TNSPC Group 2 exam is more current affairs and factual oriented. The General Knowledge topic questions are also influenced by the Current Affairs questions.

The candidates should read the TNPSC Group 2 syllabus multiple times to understand and analyse the syllabus deeply. First thing is to make a plan to cover the full syllabus in the stipulated time (around 9 months). The candidates require around three months to prepare for the TNPSC Group 2 Prelims exam. Though Prelims is a screening test only, most of the candidates could not qualify at this stage only.

The candidates should always refer to the standard books for the fundamental concepts and do not go for the shortcuts at the initial stage of preparation.
