Petrol bunk strike on April 11& 12, 2015 | Petrol pump bandh today

All petrol bunks in India will be in strike today (11-04-2015), Saturday and tomorrow (12-04-2015), Sunday.

Why petrol bunk bandh on April 11th?

Petrol pump owners already demanded for commission increase but government didn't favored them. So they won't supply fuel from April 11th, 6:00 pm to Apr 12th, 6:00 pm to support protest and urging union government to fulfill their demands and implement the Apoorva Chandra report.
S K Dinesh, Federation of Mysuru Petroleum Dealers President said, “Apurva Chandra Committee report need to be implemented and blending of ethanol with fossil fuel to 5% from 10% or stop it". Which is one of the demands of them.

Petrol bunk strike will be held in two phases.

Petrol Pump strike phase 1 - from 11th to 12th.

Petrol stations will work only in a single shift from Apr 11th 6 a.m. to 6 p.m. The petrol and diesel dealers will not load petrol or diesel from the fuel depots, if the petroleum dealers will not get the petrol from depots they can't serve fuel on Sunday because petrol pump will be dried in a day. Only on Monday, the pumps will fill their tanks. So It is expected, on Sunday no petrol bunk will operate in any city/state.

This will affect the common people much because, when demand for petrol increases or petrol price hike occurs we can see a huge crowd in fuel stations. Now petrol bunk shutdown for a day so everyone started to fill their tanks.

What is Apoorva Chandra committee report ?

In 2010, the Apurva Chandra committee was formed for fixing dealer commission. This committee headed by Apoorva Chandra, Ministry of Petroleum and Natural Gas. With discussion with nearly 120 dealers from different states they suggested a set of recommendations, including single shift work.
Now dealers are asking central government to implement the recommendations.

“We just want to implement Apporva Chandra committee report, In late 2010 a committee was formed by our ministry MOPNG headed by its joint secretary Apporva Chandra and members of all direct marketing Companies, IOCL, BPCL, HPCL and others to look into the grievance of Dealers. This was submitted 5 years ago but still it is not yet implemented. So all petrol bunk dealers will close the fuel station for a day. They request MOPNG but ministry called CIPD for five meetings and demand is not yet fulfilled.

The petroleum federation which comprises of Indian Oil (largest petroleum dealer in India), Bharat Petroleum and Hindustan Petroleum dealers will not supply fuel oil today and tomorrow.

Major cities Chennai, Bangalore, Mumbai, Hyderabad, Andhra Pradesh, UP, MP, Kolkata, Delhi, etc will face serious problem due to petrol and diesel bandh.
